About Me
My name is Kit Zachery, and I was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta. I originally attended the University of Lethbridge as a Human Resources and Labour Relations major and received my Bachelor of Management in 2018. I returned to the university in 2019 as a CTS: Business major and will be receiving my Bachelor of Education in the spring of 2021. I have always been passionate about becoming a teacher and am excited to be a part of students' education and lives.
Aside from teaching, I am passionate about mental health. One of my goals is to bring more awareness to it, correct any maladaptive beliefs or misperceptions, create welcoming and inclusive environments where students and all people feel safe and valued, and find ways to prevent or intervene various mental health illnesses. Within the broad topic of mental health, I am particularly passionate about disordered eating and body image. I believe the latter is one of the most prevalent problems impacting people of all demographics, yet disordered eating is still a topic that is rarely discussed in an open, safe environment. My goal, especially with this personal inquiry project, is to start taking some steps to make the topic of disordered eating a conversation students understand and are willing to discuss. As with my goals of mental health in general, I hope to bring more awareness to it, correct any maladaptive beliefs or misperceptions, and find ways to prevent or intervene before the symptoms become life-threatening or difficult to reverse.
